Milorad Krstić’s ‘Ruben Brandt, Collector’ is fueled by inspiration, not coffee
“I am painter,” Krstić begins. “Since 4 years old, I’ve been painting, drawing, and my world is visual, so to me it’s all the same, whether I’m directing an animated film or making some painting, or drawing pencil on paper, or making book, or putting acrylic color on canvas, or making stage design, or making documentary, whatever it is, I must always express myself in some visual way.”

Interview: Milorad Krstić On His Action-Crime Thriller ‘Ruben Brandt, Collector’
Milorad Krstić: For me, an animated movie stands on five legs: story, graphic world, animation, music, and sound. All those legs are of the same importance for me. I’m making a film as an audio-visual symphony.
Milorad Krstić: I’m a painter and I said to myself one day: Let’s make a feature animated film about paintings. And to make it more interesting for the audience, let it be a crime story about the paintings.

‘Ruben Brant, Collector’ Review: What Art Masterpieces Attack!
This ingenious animated film — about a psychologist fighting characters from 13 famous paintings — is a heist flick, a movie-mad comedy and so much more

“Art is the key to the troubles of the mind.” It’s also the path to a transporting and transcendent cinema marvel that re-invents what animation can do.
